Golden Orange Literary Adaptation Screenplay Competition: Cinema and Literature will meet in Antalya

The Literary Adaptation Feature Film Screenplay Competition will be presented as part of the 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, which takes place from October 1–8, 2022.

In his written statement, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek stated that the goals of  The Literary Adaptation Feature Film Screenplay Competition are to promote the cinematic adaptation of deserving works of our literature and to provide financial and spiritual support to the producers and creators to produce new films. 
Stating that many important films in our cinema history such as Dry Summer (Susuz Yaz), Motherland Hotel (Anayurt Oteli), The Secret Face (Gizli Yüz), Sur les Terres Fertiles (Bereketli Topraklar Üzerinde), Zübük, Her Name is Vasfiye  (Adı Vasfiye), A Season in Hakkari (Hakkari’de Bir Mevsim), Women's Ward (Karılar Koğuşu), The Chaos Class (Hababam Sınıfı), The Revenge of the Snakes (Yılanların Öcü), Vurun Kahpeye and Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım are literary adaptations. Muhittin Böcek underlined that such a competition, which will bring strong scenarios to our cinema, will be organized for the first time in Türkiye by the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
The Golden Orange Literary Adaptation Screenplay Competition, which will attract the attention of literary circles, aims to create a productive environment for both fields by bringing cinema and literature together.

The script to participate in the competition must be adapted from a work published in Türkiye before 31 December 2022 and the owner of both works must be citizens of the Republic of Türkiye. Works that have been filmed or staged as a theatrical play will not be accepted into the competition.

The participant will be able to apply for the competition by writing a script based on their own work. If he is going to benefit from the work of another author, he/she must obtain a written approval from the author of the work or his/her legal representatives and send this approval together with the application In the Golden Orange the Adapted Screenplay Competition, whose application deadline is August 15, 2022,  the Best Screenplay Award, prize money is TL 80 thousand and the Special Jury Prize determined as TL 40 thousand. If the author of the original work and the screenwriter are not the same person, the awards will be shared equally between the two writers. The winners of the competition will be announced at the opening ceremony of the 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival on October 1, 2022.

The 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival is chaired by the Mayor of Antalya, Muhittin Böcek, and executive directed by Cansel Tuncer, while Ahmet Boyacıoğlu takes on the role of Festival director and Başak Emre of artistic director.
