The application received great appreciation of holidaymakers. With the unmanned lifeguard robot, 10 citizens are rescued from drowning, while local and foreign holidaymakers enjoy the holiday with peace of mind.
The world-famous Konyaaltı Beach hosts thousands of local and foreign guests every day. With the unmanned lifeguard robot project implemented by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality for the first time in Türkiye, holidaymakers are able to go into the sea with peace of mind. The unmanned lifeguard robot, serving at EKDAĞ Beach on the Konyaaltı Beach of the Metropolitan Municipality, can instantly intervene in cases of drowning in the sea.

The unmanned lifeguard robot can be remotely controlled by lifeguards and stay on the water surface for 45 minutes with a range of 800 meters. The robot, which can carry a load of 200 kilograms, has a camera and lighting system as well as a sound system that will communicate with the case. The unmanned lifeguard is a completely domestic production and is greatly appreciated by the guests who spend their holidays at the EKDAĞ Beach. The lifeguard robot has been in use for one year only, already saved 10 citizens from the danger of drowning.
Vacationers Are Very Satisfied
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality EKDAĞ A.Ş. Konyaaltı Operations Manager Mehmet Şahin said that the unmanned lifeguard robot got full marks from the holidaymakers. Expressing that the lifeguard robot has been serving for two years, Mehmet Şahin said, “We received the necessary training for the use of the lifeguard robot. Our lifeguard robot provides service at our EKDAĞ beach. Our guests are very satisfied. We can intervene very quickly when there is a drowning event. So far, our unmanned lifeguard robot has saved the lives of 10 of our citizens’’.
Intervention for A Cramping Citizen
Ali Akın, who had cramps in his feet while swimming in the sea and was brought to the shore by an unmanned lifeguard robot, first thanked the lifeguards. Saying that he swims every day, Ali Akın added "My lifeguard friends were very careful, I had cramps in my feet, they noticed that I was resting and they immediately sent a lifeguard robot. I came to the shore comfortably. I would like to thank our Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek for providing such a service. We can safely swim here," he said.
We can swim in the sea with peace of mind
A holidaymaker Başaran Yeşilyurt who came to the sea with his daughter said, “While swimming in the sea, some unfortunate events may occur from time to time. On this beach, where there is an unmanned lifeguard, citizens can swim with a peace of mind. We are very pleased. We heard from our friends that there are people who survived thanks to the robot. It is a beautiful thing,” he said.
Filiz Arslan also noted that it is very important to use such a technology on the beach. Filiz Arslan stated that it is very valuable to be able to intervene quickly and save a life thanks to the robot.
