There is no doubt that Antalya is the most beautiful place in the world
Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRKThe 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, hosted by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and organized with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, started with the Opening Ceremony held at the Antalya Indoor Sports Hall.
The 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, hosted by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and organized with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, started with the Opening Ceremony held at the Antalya Indoor Sports Hall. One of the unforgettable moments on the night where the Honor Awards were given to Perihan Savaş and Erkan Can, and the Achievement Award to Zerrin Tekindor was the moments when Ediz Hun, whose photographs were featured on the festival poster, met with the audience from the stage, and Filiz Akın with the video she sent.
The ceremony to which the people of Antalya showed great interest took place with the participation Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, Antalya Governor Ersin Yazıcı, Muhittin Böcek, Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and President of the Festival, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General and Festival Administrative Director Cansel Tuncer, Cinema General Manager Erkin Yılmaz, mayors, political party representatives, Antalya protocol members as well as the members of the jury, film crews, many names from the world of cinema and television, and the people of Antalya.
Muhittin Böcek: “May we have nice meetings and many more years of our Golden Orange!”
The opening of the night, which was broadcast live on Halk TV screens, hosted by Nefise Karatay and Yekta Kopan, was opened by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Festival President Muhittin Böcek. Muhittin Böcek said in his speech; “Today, if our Golden Orange is 59 years old and is still one of our most important doors to the world, it is thanks to you. If it returns to its essence, preserves its values and continues to renew itself, it is thanks to the support you have given us. Having a value that leaves half a century behind is both a great happiness and a great responsibility. In every decision we take, in every step we take, we have thought about that responsibility and we have always worked. We worked so much. We asked, we consulted. We have always taken our decisions with a common mind and implemented them together. This is why the streets and this 10 thousand-seat hall are overflowing in our cortege today. May we have many meetings and many more years of our Golden Orange. As long as there is cinema, let it exist. Let there be hope for future generations as its light illuminates us. I wish everyone here today, all our artists, all our guests who will come to our city, cinema workers, industry workers and dear Antalya residents a beautiful festival. I hope that the festival enthusiasm, which will continue in our city for a week, will spread throughout our country.”
Mehmet Nuri Ersoy: “To know the Turkish people is to understand Yeşilçam correctly.”
T.R. Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy started his speech by stating his happiness to be at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival and said, “We can say with peace of mind that understanding Turkey, getting to know Turkish people means understanding Yeşilçam correctly. This festival offers us the opportunity to understand Yeşilçam correctly. On this occasion, I respectfully greet the workers of Yeşilçam. Considering how difficult it is for the work carried out in the field of culture and art to be consistently sustainable, it is better understood how valuable the effort behind the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival has come to this day. As the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who pioneered the festival, made this organization happen, and contributed from the past to the present, and I commemorate those who lost their lives with respect and mercy. I congratulate our artists who were deemed worthy of honorary awards within the scope of the festival and wish success to our artists who will compete with their works. I wish the best of luck to our jury, which will evaluate the works and consists of very valuable names.”
Ediz Hun: “Art and science are like two wings of a bird, societies that can use these two wings fly and become free.”
While Filiz Akın, who adorned the festival poster with her photographs taken on the set of the Ankara Express film shot in 1970, could not come to Antalya due to health conditions, Ediz Hun met with the audience at the ceremony. Filiz Akın expressed her gratitude by sending a video and expressed her happiness to appear on the poster with her photographs.
Ediz Hun started his speech by addressing Filiz Akın: "Dear Filiz, you are loved by all, you did not come, but you expressed your feelings very well, we embrace you with love. Art and science are like two wings of a bird, societies that can use these two wings fly and become free. In this context, Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival is extremely important. Ankara Express was filmed in 1971, 52 years ago. A movie we shot together with dear Filiz. Dear Mayor Böcek, they have kindly reflected with their own groups, I would like to express my thanks.”
T.R. Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy presented Ediz Hun with the photograph of Atatürk taken when he came to Antalya.
Zerrin Tekindor: It is very nice to be able to take such a wonderful award home.
This year's winner of the Achievement Award was the actress and painter Zerrin Tekindor, who was able to establish strong and impressive bonds with the audience at every stage of her acting adventure, from theater stages to TV series and films, and who knew how to add her soul to every play, series and film she took part in. Zerrin Tekindor, who received her award from Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, said, “It is very nice to be able to take such a wonderful award home. When I thought of this award, I thought how did this happen to me and the words of my dear mother came to my mind; 'How perfectly swans glide with their thin necks, but one must also look at the water from below how they flutter.' Artists are like that too, there is so much work and so much effort… It is a wonderful road and you will come across such things on the way from time to time, thank you very much,” he said.
Erkan Can: “Long live art!”
The first of the Honor Awards given to two distinguished artists this year was awarded to Erkan Can who has started his acting career with theater at the age of 16, has continued in cinema and television, has added value to the projects he has been involved in in every field of acting and has created unforgettable characters with unforgettable performances, has received the Golden Orange Best Actor Award twice for his performances in movies "On the Ship" and "Taqva" . Erkan Can, who received his award from Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Insect, said, "I greet everyone, there is a lot to be said, but I will speak briefly. I am accepting this award for all cinema workers who are not with us, especially Erdal Tosun, who have worked for cinema. Long live art,” he said.
Perihan Savaş: “This award took me 48 years ago.”
She stepped into the profession with theater at a young age, stood out with the real female characters she portrayed, won the Golden Orange Best Actress Award with the movie Bedrana, left her mark on the renewal and change processes of our cinema with different roles, and is an indispensable name in television series apart from theater and cinema, Perihan Savaş, who continues her career as a real star in the world of cinema, in which Yeşilçam stepped in the last period of its golden age, was the other name given the Honor Award in the night. Perihan Savaş, who received her award from Antalya Governor Ersin Yazıcı, said, “My heart is fluttering right now. This award took me to 48 years ago, the Golden Orange Best Actress Award was mine, 48 years later the Honorary Award… This means that when people do their jobs with love, respect and self-sacrifice, that hard work pays off. Today I went to the very old years in the cortege. Dear Antalya people, how beautiful you were today, nothing has changed, how much you took care of us, you waited for us in 40 degrees heat, you presented your love. Your entitlement is never paid. In the hope that the copyrights of the artists' work will be acquired as soon as possible... Freer art, freer artist,” she said.
